A day out with my family ~ 5 Jan 2013
So with the holiday season quickly coming to an end, I’m glad to say that I spent most of my time off with my family.
In fact, I think this was the first time that I’ve ever been at home for this long during the festive season, and hardly even looked at my computer. And yes, I have of course taken many, oh so many photos, but just never really made time to sit down and work through them. It’s strange how kids can change your perspective on life, and I can definitely say that no matter how much time I get to spend with my wife and son, it never really feels like its ever enough.
What I’m most surprised about is the speed at which my son is growing! Yes, I know I’ve probably said this several times before, but its amazing how much they can grow in just one day. Somehow, I feel like I’m losing my little baby boy. One day he’s crying to hold onto me. The next day he hardly even notices I’m there. It’s a strange feeling. Everyday he seems a little bit more independent, far more curious, faster, stronger, taller, smarter. He’s changing so fast, it’s like getting to know a new little person everyday; and it is truly the most exciting and amazing experience ever.
So my little family and I ended up spending the day driving around in Cape Town’s winelands with my sister and her exuberant little daughter Kirsten. And as it happens, we couldn’t decide on where to settle down for a picnic, we kind of just hopped from one place to other. First stop was at Le Pommier in Stellenbosch, where we gave the kids some space to run for a little while before moving on. Next up was Blaauwklippen Vineyard, where we ended up settling down for most of the day. And finally, after quite a hot day in the sun, the last stop was a little swim at Strand beach. Wish every day could be spent like this. π
So here are some of the photos of the day, hope you enjoy! π
